I HAVE MOVED MY BLOG!

Posted on 2008.04.17 at 10:38 am
I love Live Journal, but I have moved my blog over to http://cesartorres.net/blog

So don't lose track of me, friends! I am still alive!

Leave a comment or two on the new blog, too. HUGS

This LJ page looks dead, Y'all!

Posted on 2008.02.06 at 11:52 am
Hey, I'm no longer posting on LJ. I am keeping the account active so I can stay in touch, but you can read my full posts in 2008 at cesartorres.net.

Happy linking.

Bookslut will make me famous

Posted on 2005.11.03 at 02:30 pm
So the spec column I wrote for Bookslut lives on like a Romero zombie. It is still live on bookslut's servers.
For more details on the "experience" I had with Bookslut, see my earlier posting.

I guess since the page has still not come down and no retraction has been made, I might as well get the most out of the traffic and Google ranking!

Serenity can't be stopped

Orson Scott Card can't say much more about "Serenity." Everyone must run out and see this film. Now.

Long weekend

Posted on 2005.10.04 at 10:32 am
The weekend went long, and as I got over my head cold, played some LOTR:Third Age, went to see "Mirrormask" and "Serenity" (BLEW ME AWAY), and visited family, I got no writing done. Slowly the tide of guilt will rise again and I'll be feeling the pressure. However, writing this time around seems to have less of that. I actually am dying to be back writing. I should be able to do it tonight.

In the meantime, I am almost done with Colm Toibin's "Blackwater Lightship." Damn that is some concise and tight writing. Pretty powerful, too. And it takes place right around the time I myself was living in Dublin. Kick ass. Might have to go pick up "The Master".

And we press on/Clarke interview

Posted on 2005.09.28 at 01:51 pm
Definitely in Chapter 5 now. Not sure what total length the novel will have, but for now all I can say is, "Don't rock the boat." I am making steady progress, and I expect to be in re-write mode in January. That's right...Time to use some vacation time for some writing time...

An Interview with Susanna Clarke over at Bookslut. Man, Susanna Clarke is so incisive. I love to hear her talk about her writing. You can tell she definitely loves the process... Too long to wait till her next book.

At work tonight

Posted on 2005.09.27 at 02:10 pm
Expecting to make it through chapter 5 this week. Catching a bit of a cold but gonna push on through. Wanting to post "The Walk to Guanajuato" to the writing section, but I gotta dust it off a little more first. Maybe this week?

Powerbook is still in the shop. Rather than the aspirin recommendation, I want these guys at Apple Care to recommend a whole heart trasnplant. Tired of kernel panics!

Officially in Chapter 5 territory

Posted on 2005.09.26 at 02:22 pm
Last week's writing sessions were great, and I am happy to report that I am now on chapter 5. Since I am going at this in long hand, most of my prospective readers will have to wait until about February to get their hands on the beast. I think the rate at which I am going will be more than enough to get me under deadline in December. Keep your eyes posted, babies. I am going to upload a copy of a story I finished earlier this summer. Keep an eye on the writing section of cesartorres.net

Gaiman and Whedon!

Neil Gaiman and Joss Whedon. Doing a Q&A. On the phone. I think I am hyperventillating. Cannot wait for "Serenity". Loved Firefly...

Progress

Posted on 2005.09.21 at 02:30 pm
Heading into Chapter 5 this week...Still cranking...Was reading up on some first-draft math: Some authors like to write 3 pages a day, thinking it quickly adds up to 100 in a month. Not bad. Pretty clever. However, it just may not be that practical. All the little bits of downtime are really useful to me; Plus, what about times when the inspiration pushes me past three? I think I just take that writing time whenever I can get it.

I am really excited about cracking open a brand new notebook to head into chapter 5. I've filled one out already!

Incidentally, check out Kaitlin Kiernan's journal on her own writing progress. She may not think so, but she has a lot of discipline. Good on her. Just read "Silk". Can't wait to catch up on the rest. Truly introspective spooky shit! And I love reading about her video game excursions. Love it!

Check out Sara Douglass' site. It contains great information on her novels and other writing, as well as some really useful FAQs for writers and those interested in writing. She also just did an interview over at the Dragon Page.

I'll be doing a thorough updates to other sites that are worthwhile... Today's pick is www.3hive.com, your best place to get access to free mp3s...And yes, they are legal, just like my own free mp3 on this site at www.cesartorres.net/music.htm.

Thanks for the feedback!!

I have gotten some early responses to the "Arabella" mp3 I have posted. Thanks to everyone who is sending their input to me (at cesar500(at)gmail.com). Your opinions on this music are super important to me. I plan to post another track very, very soon. You better hold your breath.

You can get your own copy of "Arabella" in the music section. It's a free download. Come on. You know you want it.

Added music section

Posted on 2005.09.14 at 03:20 pm
Music section went up; I addded "Arabella" as a download, and you can donate to the artist (me) if you like it.

Also added some enhancements to the pages. Getting there...

I know I mentioned I hadn't checked my triathlon results in that Endurance Radio interview. Here they are: http://triathlons.accenture.com/Chicago/tracking/Map.aspx?bib=836

Not the fastest racer, but hey, there's more races up ahead, right?
